In this workshop, the moderator will introduce exponential thinking and how rapidly developing technologies can create both disruption and opportunities to solve the world’s most important problems. From an overview of Artificial Intelligence, Biotechnology, Computing and Digital Manufacturing, we will identify breakthroughs in these fields that can lead us towards an abundant future.

Educate and expose participants to the concept of exponentially advancing technologies and how it can create opportunities to solve the world’s most important issues.


Participants will be divided into small teams and asked to identify the most important challenges Brazil is facing today and then come up with potential solutions using exponentially advancing technologies that will be developed in the next 3-5 years.


Emeline Paat-Dahlstrom is the Chief Impact Officer & Executive Vice President, Operations for Singularity University (SU). She is responsible for production and logistics for all of SU’s operations including facilities and educational programs. and is currently acting Space track Lead for SU’s 10 week Graduate Studies Program. She is also responsible and oversees SU’s impact activities in line with SU’s overall mission to leverage exponential technology to address humanity’s grand challenges.

Emeline has a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of the Philippines and a Masters of Science in Earth and Space Science from York University, Canada. She attended the International Space University (ISU) Space Studies Certificate Program in Strasbourg, France and subsequently worked and volunteered for ISU for two decades for its summer programs around the world. She has also worked for several startups including serving as Director of Program Development and Research and Director of Operations for Space Adventures Ltd, a space tourism company sending private citizens to the International Space Station, and Odyssey Moon, a planned commercial transport to the Moon. Emeline is co-author of the book “Realizing Tomorrow: The Path to Private Space Flight”, University of Nebraska Press, which was selected for the 2013 US Air Force’s Chief of Staff Reading List.
